Put Seeds in a Planter and Follow the Water Prompts

For Nomad Drive how to grow plants, find a seed packet and a planter, plant the seeds, provide water when the growth stage asks for it, and harvest once the produce is mature. The demo does not show planting as a single watering followed by an automatic finished crop. Check the plant again as it advances so it does not sit waiting for the next input.

This gives your mobile home another food source, but it also uses the water you need for the journey. Keep a supply beside your gardening setup rather than using your last drinking water to begin a crop.

Collect the Seeds and a Suitable Pot

The developer's planting-system diary, published in October 2024, describes seed packets for tomato, potato, watermelon, orange, and apple. It explains planting them in planters and arranging the pots inside the campervan.

Later demo recordings show players finding seeds and pots while scavenging and using them together. A useful setup sequence is:

  1. Bring the planter and seed packet into reach.
  2. Use the planting interaction for the seeds and pot.
  3. Keep a water container nearby.
  4. Read the next plant prompt before leaving it unattended.

A decorative artificial plant is not the same thing as a crop you have planted. Inspect the object and available interaction instead of assuming every pot-like decoration is already growing food.

Water the Growth Stages Until the Crop Is Ready

The development diary describes five growth stages with regular watering. Demo gameplay supports the important practical part: after an initial countdown, the plant asks for water again at a later stage.

In one narrated demo planting session, the player grows watermelon and tomatoes, sees another watering requirement, and then obtains mature produce. That is a working example of the cycle, not a guaranteed timer or yield for every crop.

Check the amount in your water container when the game says there is not enough. Refill or fetch another supply, then continue at the plant's prompt. Do not assume the next crop will need exactly the same amount as the one in an old recording.

Harvest Without Turning Old Details Into New Rules

Once the plant reaches maturity, use the harvest interaction and collect the produce. The original diary distinguishes vegetables that are harvested once from fruit trees intended to provide repeated fruit. Because that is a development-era description, check what your current plant actually does rather than discarding a productive tree after the first harvest.

The official demo patch history later records a fix for harvested fruit disappearing and pots becoming stuck after a save load. It also announces removal of plant-death mechanics in a June update. Those changes are a reason to keep the build in mind when comparing a gardening problem with an old video.

The supported routine remains simple: plant, water at the required stages, and harvest when mature. It does not require a fabricated fertilizer amount, universal crop timer, or full farming spreadsheet to get started.

FAQ

What do I need to start growing food?

A seed packet, a planter, and enough water to respond to the plant's growth-stage prompts.

Do I only water the plant once?

Not in the demonstrated demo process. The plant can ask for another watering as it advances through its stages.

Which seeds have been documented?

The developer's 2024 planting diary lists tomato, potato, watermelon, orange, and apple. Check the actual packets available in your version.

How much food will one seed packet produce?

The recordings show individual successful harvests, but they do not establish universal yields for every crop and build. Read the mature plant and collect its actual produce.
