Start with the House and the Van Checklist
The Nomad Drive demo opening asks you to turn a partly assembled van into your first mobile home. Search the starting property, attach the essential components, and pack supplies before driving to roadside stops. This walkthrough follows community demonstrations of the older demo, so use its sequence as guidance rather than expecting the same seed or item positions.
In those playthroughs, the first vehicle checklist calls for wheels, an engine, a battery, a radiator, a handbrake, and a steering wheel. Players find parts both indoors and outside. Check rooms, cupboards, the garage, and the ground around the building before concluding that a component is missing.
Carry each part to its matching mount and follow the attachment prompt. Put a seat in the driver's position as well. Doors and other body pieces turn up during the search, but the demonstrations also show players leaving with some cosmetic and bodywork gaps still present.
Add Fluids and Start the Engine
The older demo's radiator objective can be confusing because its wording refers to coolant. In the recorded playthroughs, players successfully fill the radiator with water. Bring the container to the radiator and use the displayed transfer interaction; a separate petrol container goes to the fuel tank.
The next sequence is straightforward:
- Confirm that the engine, battery, radiator, and other required components are attached.
- Add available fuel and radiator water rather than relying on a checked objective alone.
- Sit in the driver's seat and use the ignition.
- Release the handbrake, then use the driving controls to leave the property.
If you are still stationary, check what is actually failing. The developer's official patch notes describe a driving HUD that identifies missing or broken engines, dead batteries, and no fuel, along with a handbrake warning. A brake warning and a failed ignition need different checks.
Pack What You Will Use at the First Stops
The community walkthroughs collect drinking water, canned food, first aid supplies, repair items, and spare components before departing. Keeping useful containers also gives you somewhere to carry fluids you find later. Do not spend so long sorting paint or decorations that you ignore your own hunger and thirst.
In one older demo playthrough, a crate lets the player move several small items at once. Other objects still need their own space. Watch the placement preview and keep the items you expect to use accessible rather than burying them under furniture.
The early road is procedural. One recorded trip encounters a bus stop, a small tower, shipping containers, and a radio station; another player's route develops differently. These are examples of the loop, not an ordered list of guaranteed checkpoints.
At each stop, search the available buildings and containers, look for food and fluids, and compare vehicle parts before loading them. A door may belong to another mount or vehicle. The correct part should produce an appropriate attachment prompt rather than merely looking similar.
Continue Exploring Without Confusing Demo Versions
In the demonstrations, players keep the journey going by replacing worn tires, carrying engine repair kits, and gathering more food and water. Cooking, planting, furnishing, and treasure objectives appear as they discover relevant objects. Finding an objective does not mean you already have every item needed to finish it.
Choose the next task according to what you actually find. If a stop has a useful replacement component, fit it or carry it as a spare. If it has supplies you need now, address those needs before the next drive. There is no evidence that you must complete every side objective to leave the opening area.
The demo changed shortly before Early Access. The official October announcement says the replacement demo uses a newer build with reduced content and does not support saves from the old demo. Separate test-version footage also shows equipment that differs from the original demo, so avoid mixing those item requirements into this older opening walkthrough.
FAQ
Where is the engine in the demo?
The demonstrated openings find their starting components around the house and property. Search inside and outside and follow the vehicle checklist; the videos do not establish one engine position for every generated start.
Which direction should I take on the road?
The demonstrations choose a direction and explore what appears. They do not establish a universally better first direction or a guaranteed sequence of loot stops.
Can I reuse my original demo save in the replacement demo?
No. Indie Devil explicitly announced that old demo saves are incompatible with the replacement demo. Start from the current build's supported flow rather than expecting this walkthrough to repair that compatibility change.
